About Coach Howie Jackson

Howie Jackson is a Tennis Canada certified career tennis coach with 37 years of coaching history in the Lower Mainland.

With over 60,000 hours of on court tennis coaching experience, Howie coaches all levels and ages of tennis players, from beginners to national champions.

In his playing career, Howie was ranked in the top 10 in the open category in British Columbia in both singles and doubles.

Howie provides a comprehensive approach to player development, blending technical efficiency, tactical proficiency and psychological awareness to create a complete tennis player.

Howie's practical, results based coaching emphasizes subtle modification and enhances immediate improvement. Howie is always available to discuss your tennis game and its future.

About Coach Bill Wang

The Board of Directors of the Richmond Tennis Club is pleased to announce the appointment of Bill Wang as an approved coach at RTC. Originally from Shanghai, Bill brings with him a wealth of experience from his years of coaching in China and Japan. Bill has a passion for the game of tennis and loves to compete. He is the reigning over 55 Canadian Doubles Champion.

Bill is a Tennis Canada certified tennis instructor and has been coaching in Richmond for the past six years. He has coached the Richmond High School tennis team, volunteered his time at the RBC Learn to Play kids day at UBC and at the Olympic Day at the Richmond Oval, and provided private lessons to many adults and children in the city. At present Bill is working with the RTC league teams to improve their doubles strategy.

Bill is fluent in Mandarin, Japanese and Shanghainese. He is available to teach private lessons to members and non-members.

 Fridays from 11am to 4pm
 Weekends from 4pm


Bill Wang may coach on Court #5
 Monday and Wednesday from 11am
 Fridays from 4pm to 8pm
 Weekends from 4pm on Court #3


From July 5th till September 3rd
Coaches will start at 12:30pm Monday to Friday


 

Welcome to our new assistant coach, Emese (pronounced Em-mesh-shay)

Emese has been playing tennis since she was eight. She played competitively in singles and doubles for about 10 years, was a Hungarian Women’s League Tennis Champion in 2009, and ranked among the top 25 best female doubles players in the 14–16-year-old category in Hungary.

After moving to Canada, she was a full-time Tennis Instructor to campers and staff members in Canadian summer camps in three different years (2012, 2014 and 2015) in Ottawa, Ontario.

She also taught Snowboarding lessons at Cypress Mountain to children between the age of 10-17, and the Adult “Learn How to Snowboard” program in 2019 and 2020.

Emese will be doing mostly adult public lessons and filling in for kids lessons where needed.

Welcome to our new assistant coach, Cathy

Originally from Yunnan, China, Cathy was a professional tennis player with the Yunnan Provincial Tennis Team for over 10 years. She won numerous provincial championships and competed for her province at the national level. She graduated with a Bachelor’s Degree in Kinesiology from Yunnan Normal University, specializing in tennis coaching. She has over 15 years professional coaching experience in China and Richmond, BC.

Cathy worked as an assistant coach for the Yunnan Provincial Tennis Team and supported several top players from the province in both Asian and National events. She is highly experienced in technical skill development/improvement, as well as competing tactics.

Welcome to our new assistant coach, David

David was born in Shanghai and came to Canada with his parents in 2012. He started playing tennis at the age of 5. He competed nationally in the under 12 age group in China. Upon arrival in Canada, he played on the Richmond High Tennis Team which won the Richmond Zone championship, 4 years in a row and went on to compete at the Provincial High School Championships (2013-2017).

He earned his Tennis Canada Instructor coaching certificate in 2018 and in addition to coaching at RTC he has coached at the Steveston Community Centre.
